A few months after declaring a Creative Writing major at Pepperdine University, Angelea’s poem was chosen for publication in the anthology entitled Radical Beauty: Malibu After the Fire. The collection was put together by then-Malibu Poet Laureate Ricardo Means Ybarra, capturing local artists’ responses to the devastating Woolsey Fire. A portion of the proceeds from the anthology go towards supporting teachers who lost their homes in the fire. The piece, “Prologue to Where the Fire Met the Water,” became her first publication as a writer. She has read her poem at events hosted by Pepperdine University and the City of Malibu, including the launch event of Radical Beauty, Malibu Rising in the Malibu City Hall.
